A Nun's Meditation

I looked from my window

One early morn

To a vision of loveliness

At the breaking of dawn.

I gazed at the brightness

(all silent and still)

While the fountain trickled

And the birds were shrill.

The fish in the pool

By the heron observed

Were in no danger

From a plastic bird.

Bruno and Joel

With their heads in the pond

Disturbed fish and frogs

But they darted beyond -

And avoided their reach !

LADY OF THE GROTTO

Bluebell flowers carpet her base,

Glistening green holly frames her grave face,

Lady of the Grotto: for us she ceaselessly prays.

Introduction Where is God ?
